Finally Some Spicy Food!

No it wasn’t Mexican food. It was American eclectic food. We went to Yellow Dog Eats, an interesting take on food. The place is quaint and unique. It is definitely not some box-cutter franchise chain restaurant found in most corners of the world. According to the restaurant’s back-story, it used to be a country store turned into a restaurant by Chef Fish Morgan.

I know, “Fish” is a unique name for a chef and I’m sure there is another back story to it that someday I’ll have to investigate. The important thing, though, is that my body got some much needed spice. I wasn’t expecting some spice satisfaction but the restaurant looked like something fun that I wanted to try. And it was well worth it. The spice was icing on the meal.

Yellow Dog Eats is definitely on my list of places I plan to frequent. As you can imagine by the name, everything revolves around dogs. The menu is replete with dog insinuations and something fun to share with your meal buddies.

For this visit I got to sample Laura’s order, a Fire Pig, Landon’s salad and my order consisting of half a rack of ribs with gold sauce. It was all good and I haven’t even mentioned the deserts. The Fire Pig is spicy and very much a meal unto itself. Laura and I weren’t able to finish it together; of course I had desert waiting at the table! The ribs, well, let’s just say that I grudgingly shared one rib each with Laura and Landon because I didn’t want to part with them.

The “gold” sauce is delicious. I can’t tell you what it is but I know that it made the ribs spicy enough to fight over. Even Landon dug in, although he hates spicy food. I bite of rib and two gulps of water until he finished his rib. I was secretly hoping he’d give up the rib but it wasn’t to be. I suggest ordering additional sauce if you need some spice in your life and if you want to hog them all to yourself.

As if the main course wasn’t filling enough we ordered two deserts.

As you can tell by the smile on Landon’s face, the deserts were good enough to stuff ourselves. Of course, consistently mentioning desert in my post should have been a clue about how much I enjoyed mine. I had an orange cake and Landon had two sugar cookies stuffed with cream. Let’s just say that conversation ceased at the table as we wolfed down the food with smiles on our faces.

Yellow Dog Eats is on our list for a good meal next time we are looking to satisfy our palates, and my spice needs.
