Remember when Donald Trump promised you that México would pay for The Wall? Trump has been promising to build a wall on the U.S.-México border from the moment he announced his presidential bid. Many of his voters still believe that The Wall will be built. Some even believe that The Wall is being built as you read this. But the reality is worse then The Wall will never be built.
Not only is México not paying for The Wall, but Donald Trump, yup, the Trump that promised you México will pay for The Wall has now offered México $20 million in U.S. taxpayer money to help immigrants return to their homes in Central America.
You read that right, Donald Trump is offering México $20 million.
What happened to México will pay for The Wall?
Some readers believe that the renegotiated NAFTA 2.0 will somehow have México pay for The Wall. It won’t. More to the point, the Mexican government has consistently said it will NOT pay for The Wall.
But what about the $20 million?
Last week the Trump Administration sent Congress a notice advising Congress that the Trump Administration intends to pay México $20 million to pay for plane tickets and bus fare for 17,000 immigrants to return to their homes in Central America.
The $20 million will be taken from taxpayer funded foreign assistance funds, which is money funded by U.S. taxpayers. Yes, you read that right, American taxpayers will be paying for Central Americans to return home from México.
As you can clearly see, México is not only not paying for The Wall, but Donald Trump is now offering to pay México to help America with its immigration problem.
The Mexican government has not accepted the money and is evaluating whether it will accept it, and if it does, under what conditions it will do so.
Regardless, because of Donald Trump, Americans may be paying México, instead of México paying for the pinche wall.
