Most of you reading this today know that on Saturday there was another killer targeting a Synagogue. The attack on a place of worship is one more in a long list of radical home-grown terrorism that many prefer to ignore. Sure, there is a lot of anguish on how anyone dares to attack a place of worship, especially a Jewish one but for some it just becomes another tool to use against their favorite political pawn – immigrants.
You see lost in the fear of another attack on Americans is the source of the attack. Just like in the national discussion about the source of the measles outbreak in America. Note how the underlining festering fear is the fear of immigrants. When news about the recent attacks on synagogues or schools the first thing everyone looks for is whether an immigrant is the perpetrator. Muslim terrorism is the first thought everyone had when they learned of attack on the latest synagogue.
The first thought by many was not whether it was homegrown terrorism, but whether another radical Muslim had gotten through and attacked Americans.
Likewise, the ongoing measles outbreaks has many pointing to immigrants as the reason why it is happening in America.
Immigrants are the first thought when it comes to strife in America and even when the facts are known the immigrant scapegoats are still in the minds of many.
The attacks on the places of worship and schools are white-homegrown American terrorists attacking their own. The measles outbreaks aren’t originating from south of the border.
These issues are American homegrown problems mostly perpetuated by American citizens but for many blaming immigration, border security and immigrants remain the only solution to these problems, not matter what the facts say.
This is what a war on immigrants looks like.
When there is mayhem or diseases and many look to immigrants as the source of the problem rather than to the real source, homegrown American citizens.
Today, only hours after the latest attack on the Jewish place of worship the demand to build the wall, close the borders to immigrants and the fear mongering against Muslims and brown people remains the national topic of discussion even though no immigrant was involved in killing worshipers.
