The Impeachment of Donald Trump

I trust you all had an excellent start to 2020. Unless you are completely oblivious to politics you likely know that Donald Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives as 2019 ended. If you aren’t aware than I’m really shocked that you are reading my blog. The impeachment of Donald Trump will now dominate 2020.

Why?

It is simple, the presidential elections are in November. Nancy Pelosi is holding on to the impeachment articles on what is likely political gamesmanship. Whether she sends them to the senate in the next couple of weeks does not matter because by the time Congress gets back to work it will be closer to November.

The presidential election is in ten months.

The run-up to election season has already started. Whether the Senate acquits Donald Trump or not is immaterial because the fact that Donald Trump has been impeached will follow him throughout the election.

Assuming Donald Trump runs for a second term. This is not a forgone conclusion to the chagrin of some of you.

However, the impeachment of Donald Trump is the topic for 2020.

That gets me to my blog.

I’ve been too focused on Donald Trump the last few years. It is unavoidable because of what his election means to Mexicans, México, immigrants and the borderlands. I expect that Donald Trump will dominate the 2020 news cycles as well.

I will try to get back on track and write more about U.S.-México relations, border politics and Mexican issues for 2020. That is my new years resolution for my blog in 2020.

But let’s be real for a moment, the impeachment of Donald Trump will be front and center in 2020. It doesn’t matter if the Senate acquits him because there will always be new details added to the story.

Lost in the noise of Donald Trump is Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s (AMLO) politics that mirrors Trump’s dismantling of political norms. In my view, both politicos are dangerous for both countries. I’ll try to bring this into focus in upcoming posts. There is also a Bolivia-México intrigue playing out involving the expulsion of ambassadors, clandestine military flights and political asylum. I’ll share some details as well. As if that is not enough, there is even more proof that Trump unleashed a War on Mexicans. I will show that you as well.

I also got a letter from the City of El Paso in the mail. Some of you will get a laugh out of it, just like I did. I’ll share that with you also.

Stay tuned because there is some fun to be had in 2020!
